Well, market for poetry books exists but it is not profitable for the publishers to spend their time and money on the poets who are yet to be published. People have become less interested in poetry and as poems are read by school children and few adults. The poetry books for school children are still in demand and will remain always. If you are thinking to be a full time poet or taking poetry as your first career, you are advised to think again. There are many other forms of prose which can earn better money for you. Fictional and non-fictional books are more in demand than poetry books. You may like to check poetry.com for the contests and opportunities for poets.
